Culture Connections

This program is all about becoming part of a community and feeling a sense of belonging in Canada. We try to create an environment where you can feel supported, encouraged and connected as you settle in Canada and build a new life here.

If you are you are eager to make friends and actively participate in your local community, then you might benefit from our Culture Connections Program.

We will match you with a volunteer host for three months. Partners usually meet once a week for two hours. You and your host can decide what to do together and when to meet together. They can help you improve your English, meet new people, try new activities, learn about Canadian life and culture, learn about Canadian services and get more involved in your local community.

We encourage all participants to attend monthly "Culture & Conversation" nights at our Commercial Drive office. These meetings provide a great opportunity to share stories and have fun with other program participants.

You can join the program if you are at ELSA Level 3 or greater, have been in Canada less than three years and can commit to meeting with your partner each week for 12 weeks.
