Supporting and empowering newcomers to participate in Canada’s social, economic and political life.
The Community Outreach program provides support to immigrant and refugee communities in developing the power, skills, knowledge and experience of people as individuals and in groups. The purpose of this is to enable them to undertake initiatives of their own to combat social, economic, political and environmental problems and also to fully participate in a truly democratic process.
Through a variety of projects and initiatives, the program promotes integration, leadership, and participation within immigrant and refugee communities. Community Outreach staff work to create links between immigrant communities and society at large. They also regularly participate in conferences and events to raise awareness of the challenges that immigrants and refugees face.
