RECORD ATTENDANCE AT JOB FAIR
More employers than ever before participated in the Seventh Annual Connections to Employment Job Fair. And, more job seekers showed up. More than five thousand people came in search of a job.
There were 29 exhibitors, including WorkSafe BC, Concord Security, Aquinas Institute, Bank of Montreal, Canada Safeway, Bayshore Home Health, Home Depot, City of New Westminster, Spectra Energy, Dress For Success, Eminata Group, Coast Plaza Hotel, TD Canada Trust, and London Drugs. 80 percent of employers indicated that they were very satisfied with the event and the turnout.
MOSAIC, the Immigrant Services Society of BC, Progressive Intercultural Community Services Society (PICS), and SUCCESS hosted the Job Fair in collaboration with the Vancouver Public Library.
Thomas Tam, CEO, S.U.C.C.E.S.S. opened the Fair. Catherine Evans, Chair, Vancouver Public Library Board and Linda Wood from the Employment & Labour Market Services Division of the BC Ministry of Social Development also spoke.
Employers shared information about their sector and specific job opportunities, guided interested candidates in the application process, and did some on-site interviews.
