'NI HAO,' 'SALAAM' AND 'HOLA' FROM MOSAIC

Greeting Fluency Rosemary Dechaine.jpgMOSAIC staff recently learned ten commonly used phrases in three of the languages most spoken by our clients. Instructors working with Global Civic Society presented a workshop on phrases in Mandarin, Farsi and Spanish.

Global Civic Society is an initiative of former Vancouver Mayor Sam Sullivan. The former mayor told staff that learning a few phrases in another person's language makes them feel welcome and connected to the City. Global Civic Society is encouraging employers and organizations across the City to join the initiative and strengthen the City's liveability and commitment to multiculturalism.

The workshop was packed. Everyone had a great time. 'XieXie,' 'Mamnoon' and 'Gracias' to Sam Sullivan, the instructors and the Global Civic Society.
