If so, you may be eligible for the Building Blocks Vancouver program. Building Blocks Vancouver provides free, home-based, parenting support services to first time parents. If you are feeling anxious, worried or have questions about the experience of giving birth and becoming a parent for the first time, Building Blocks Vancouver is here to support you. Building Blocks Vancouver is inclusive to any first time parent, living in the city of Vancouver. Building Blocks Vancouver is voluntary and you can receive services beginning from the last trimester of pregnancy up until your first child reaches the age of five. Program staff speak several languages, including English, Spanish, Korean, Tagalog, Mandarin, Cantonese, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu and Vietnamese. Building Blocks Vancouver is strictly confidential and follows/abides by MOSAIC’s privacy and confidential policies and practices.
Building Blocks Vancouver's program staff are: Family Support Home Visitors, Public Health Nurse and Social Work consultants. As a team, they offer support by: listening to you and hearing your concerns; giving you encouragement; accompanying you to a variety of appointments; and, by sharing information about community resources, childcare, parenting, health and social issues.
Family events and outings include a summer picnic, and a winter party.
Building Blocks provides services Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, excluding statutory holidays.
You can join Building Blocks Vancouver if:
you live in Vancouver (excluding North and West Vancouver);
you are a first time parent or will be parenting a child for the first time;
at the time of referral, you are in your last trimester of pregnancy or you have a child under the age of 6 months.
