The first phase of the Legal Education and Preventing Violence Program, funded by the Law Foundation of BC, has concluded successfully. Through the first phase, MOSAIC and RED FM 93.1 partnered to develop a series of televised and radio broadcast shows which provided legal education and justice system information for women in the South Asian Community.

ETA-LEAPV

MOSAIC has currently moved on to the second phase of this project, funded by the Law Foundation of Ontario, entitled: Empowerment Through Access - Legal Education and Preventing Violence Project. The goal of this project is to provide legal information and resources on issues of family violence. This project addresses several issues including: violence against women, youth violence, and senior abuse. This project is directed specifically at education for South Asian communities throughout the Lower Mainland. The objectives of this project are to:

Deliver workshops on legal education and community resources to a variety of locations including Vancouver, Victoria, Abbotsford, Kelowna, Kamloops and Prince George.
Deliver peer training workshops to other service providers across BC who are working with South Asian women.
Present a one-day wellness forum for women. At this forum women will have the opportunity to learn about healthy living, attend workshops on issues related to domestic violence, as well as access resources available in the community.
