Family Programs

We provide programs focusing on services for women, men, children and youth. Many of these services are offered in clients’ first languages, including Cantonese (Building Blocks Vancouver, Safety Tips), Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Kurdish, Mandarin, Punjabi (Building Blocks Vancouver and Stopping the Violence), Somali, Spanish, Urdu, and Vietnamese (CAPC, Building Blocks Vancouver, Probation Outreach, and Family Counselling); occasionally, interpretation services are provided to families who speak languages other than the ones listed. Multicultural programs are delivered in English.

Family Programs offers a variety of programs focusing on Early Childhood Development and Education (ECD and ECE), Violence Prevention and Counselling, and Youth.

  • Immigrant/refugee fathers with children 0 to 6 years old... what are the secrets of the most successful immigrant and refugee fathers? The Family Support Programs at MOSAIC set out to answer that question by launching the Connecting Fathers program in 2007.

    Over the course of the program immigrant/refugee fathers, with support from the Connecting Fathers team, explored their many challenges and successes as fathers.

  • Immigrant/refugee families with children 0 to 6 years old... when you first had your children, did you dream about all the joy you would have together? 

    Did you picture how you would do all the right things to make sure your child would be healthy, happy and successful?

  • A series of televised and radio broadcast talk shows in English and Punjabi that provide legal and justice system information on the theme of violence against women in the South Asian Community.

  • Men in Change is a program that provides counselling and education to immigrant men who have threatened, attempted or committed domesticviolence against their partners, or are at risk of such behaviour. 

    The program’s main objective is to prevent the occurrence or reoccurrence of physical and/or psychological abuse within families by:
     

  • Looking for support, help, or information as a victim of crime?

    • Have you been assaulted by a stranger or your husband or boyfriend?
    • Have your personal belongings been taken?
    • Scared or confused and don’t know what, where or who to...
  • Imagine... meeting cool youth like you, making new friends, spending time doing creative, interactive and fun activities. Learning tools to express yourself and being more seen and heard in your school and community.

    And… you also get snacks and bus tickets at each session.

  • A free and confidential counselling, advocacy and support service for women experiencing intimate partner violence. Your confidentiality is assured!

    The STV Counselling Program provides free individual and group counselling to women experiencing emotional, physical, sexual, psychological, social and/or economic abuse.

  • Culturally appropriate counselling support for the Vietnamese community in the Vancouver area on a variety of issues:

    • Relationships (such as parent-teen conflicts, parenting concerns) 
    • Life transitions (such as separation, divorce)
