Client Story:
Saleem, who has been living in Canada for two years, was upgrading his English skills prior to his meeting with a MOSAIC Case Manager. Saleem had advanced English language skills in addition to being multilingual (4 languages). He also had a diploma in hotel management from his home country along with computer and administrative skills. His previous work-experience in the retail, financial and accommodation sectors had led him to seek entry-level work in retail.
Saleem lacked confidence in his job search skills and needed support. He was referred to a job search support program where he developed the necessary skills and increased his self-confidence. As part of the program, he attended a job fair where the employer was seeking to hire entry level staff. The employer was impressed by his skills, abilities and self-confidence, and he was hired as a full-time store coordinator (administrative role) at $13.00 per hour.
