Aaron was a Material Engineer and came to Canada in 2009. Prior to his arrival, he had three years of sales work experience in a heavy machinery company in his home country. In addition to his Material Engineering educational background, Aaron also had a Bachelor Degree in Finance.
Aaron heard about the Job Options BC Program from his friend and joined the first group last December. During the 4-week classroom training phase, with the help of the instructor, Aaron was able to identify a short-term and a long-term career goal, create a résumé, get ready for a job interview and make cold calls. He found, in particular, that the interview skills practice he had during the Program empowered him to confidently present himself in front of potential employers. Aaron successfully got his first job in Canada – a barista position at Starbuck before the completion of the entire Program. Aaron was happy about the new position as he could learn about different kinds of coffee and the career opportunities that he may have with this big franchise.
